So if you look at the blog posts here, you’ll notice some lapses in dates…. like several years worth. Well, sorry about that. I’ve been busy. If you have been coming back from time to time to see if there are new Kindergoth strips, you probably noticed there were not. However, you may have noticed over the last few months, subtle changes in the site. This is because I have been poking it trying to wake it up. Like a college sophomore who took a “couple semesters off”, I’m trying to get back in to the groove of things. I never stopped writing Kindergoth. I just ran out of time to draw it and maintain the site. Bear with me while I charge the batteries, change the fluids, and kick the tires. Once I get the site bugs fixed a bit more, I will start posting strips again. Starting with concluding the Dirty Deeds story arc that was so rudely interrupted by my work on Speed Racer.
You can help to speed things up though. Click the banner at the top of the page to check out my Patreon page. Currently I’m using it to organize my commissions and get a little extra income so I can dedicate more time to Kindergoth. Updates here will be random for a bit, but once I feel confident I can crank out strips like the days of old, I will get back on a schedule.
Thanks for hanging with me and here’s to good times ahead!
I have been dying to do more Kindergoth strips. However, life has had other plans. Current status: I have about 70 strips written. A couple are already drawn. I also have 2 comic book mini series started. For me to restart Kindergoth with regular updates, I need to be able to take a couple months off of my day job (which is doing drawings for everyone else).
I was debating doing a Kickstarter campaign to reboot Kindergoth with 2 strips a week. If we exceed our goal enough, I’ll post even more strips a week. I’ve always dreamed of doing a daily strip but finances prevent me from being able to take time off to do that. If I can raise about $15,000 I can take 4 months off to do 2 or more strips a week. With any luck, Kindergoth will get back to its old traffic by the end of that period so I can keep going.
So, would you support a Kickstarter to reboot Kindergoth? What types of premiums would you like to see as rewards? Reply in the Comments section of this post below or through my art website: http://www.kohse.com/contact/

Thanks to everyone that has been checking back and poking me at comic conventions about Kindergoth.
I got an email saying that Lucasfilm will be shutting down the customized merchandise from Zazzle on May 17. This includes ALL the Star Wars Artists designs. Check out my shirts here: http://www.zazzle.com/starwars_leek?rf=238127086138557036 and use the coupon code STARWARS2012 at checkout to save 30% on all SW Merch. Coupon code expires on May 16. BTW I get royalties on these shirts so if you want to see more Kindergoth strips, spread the word and tell your friends so I can get a big check and take some time off to draw Kindergoth!
Speaking of Kindergoth, Have no fear! I have been writing new strips and have a nice big pile of them stocked up. I’m just trying to get some free time each week so I can draw them and get enough strips up and running regularly again. Just a heads up the first several strips I update will be back dated so they appear next to each other in the archives since they are related. After that I will launch weekly again. If traffic is high enough I will take more time off to work on more strips, if traffic is really great, I will hire my buddy Jeff Zugale to draw the strips and I’ll write them so we can crank out lots of funny for everyone!
Just got back from my best Comic Con ever! I was at the Allegory/BloodFire Studios booth doing sketches. Lots of fans were giving me crap for not uploading more strips so I wanted to let you guys know some neat announcements that came out at Comic Con. Allegory has agreed to release a new Kindergoth mini series! That’s right, all new Kindergoth comic books will be hitting stores next year. I have also been talking with a friend of mine about taking over art duties on the strips. This will let me focus on my day job as Creative Director at Allegory and I still have many obligations to Lucasfilm projects (mostly Star Wars). I’ll still be writing the strips but my buddy will be able to crank out more strips a week than I have time too. Thanks to everyone that stopped by to support Kindergoth! You guys rock!
I may not be doing Dragon-Con this year after all. I think I was lost in the shuffle since no one has contacted me back yet. NYCC has invited me as a guest so I will be there despite the obvious low standards they have for guests.
Comic Con was amazing! We debuted the new Speed Racer comic (of which I am also the cover artist on). Tommy Yune, Robby Musso, and myself were doing free sketches for anyone that asked and people stood in line, some for as long as two hours just to get a sketch. I had several requests for Kindergoth sketches but I think the highlight was when one fan actually asked if I would do a Speed Racer sketch cover in the Kindergoth style! I really wished I had my good pens on me when I did this but I still think it came out pretty cool!

So the tour was a huge success! San Diego to Chicago (C2E2) to Irvine Ca to Costa Mesa Ca to San Francisco (Wondercon) to San Diego in two weeks. After I got back from Wondercon I was greeted with amazing news! I cant go into specifics but a project we have been working on for the last 4 years or so was just approved and soon we will start making announcements. The really cool part of all of this is it means great news for the future of Kindergoth. No its not the cartoon, I have tabled that for the time being. But it means I will have more time for strips and we are exploring the possibility of launching the comic books again as well.
New strips will start up weekly again in a couple of weeks. Until then, check out the new art I posted to my gallery site below.
