Not to be a downer (I just discovered this comic and I love it so far), but one of my pet peeves is how everyone messes up that Ben Franklin quote. It’s properly: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
Those additional words make a huge difference, because people in a society MUST give up some freedom for some safety, that’s the nature of social contract– for example, I give up the freedom to kill my neighbor’s yappy dog for the safety of knowing nobody’s allowed to kill my pet.
I totally agree about the power of the full quote and I would have loved to use it but you have to look at the space I have to fit them in. Summary FTL. Glad you like the strip!
+1 for the Litany!
I love the quotes on the whiteboard. Esp the Paul Atreides one
