Probably the best marketing scheme I have ever seen at a Comic Convention was the Machete promotion at the 2010 SD Comic Con. In the streets of San Diego’s historical Gaslamp Quarter was parked a black catering truck labeled ”Machete Catering”. They were giving out tacos made by Danny Trejo (dressed as Machete) as well as Robert Rodriguez and several other cast members from the film. They also took over a parking lot and threw a party complete with DJ and unrated scenes projected up on the side of the building next to the lot. Cervezas and tacos! Genius!
